Are you eligible to vote in Florida?

Civic engagement is a fundamental pillar of a thriving democracy, and if you possess the eligibility to vote, we strongly encourage you to exercise this crucial right.

Election Dates

General elections take place on the second Tuesday in November of even-numbered years, aimed at filling national, state, county, and district offices. Preceding the general elections by eleven weeks, a state primary election is held to nominate party candidates.

Presidential elections are scheduled every four years, occurring in years that are multiples of four. Gubernatorial elections follow a separate four-year election cycle. The presidential preference primary elections are conducted on the third Tuesday of March in election years. Special elections can be called at any time, and local elections may be organized throughout the year.

The upcoming opportunities to vote in national elections are during the Primary Election Season and General Election in 2024.

How to Register

To exercise your voting rights, you must first register, which can be accomplished in just a few minutes. The deadline for voter registration is 29 days before the upcoming election.

If you have recently changed your name or address, ensure to update your registration accordingly.

If you are uncertain about your voter registration status, take a moment to check it to be certain.

How to Vote

In Florida, registered voters have three voting options:

1. Vote-by-Mail

  • Request a vote-by-mail ballot at least 15 days prior to the election to allow ample time for return. Please note that this request applies to all elections for the next two years. If you've voted by mail before, consider renewing your request.

  • Remember to sign the ballot envelope before returning it.

  • Complete your ballot at home and either mail it in immediately or drop it off at any early voting location within your county.

  • If you choose to vote in person, take your ballot to your designated polling place on Election Day to have it canceled.

  • Ensure your ballot reaches your county's Supervisor of Elections by no later than 7 p.m. on Election Day.

  • While you can drop off your ballot at any early voting location during early voting days, you cannot do so at your polling place on Election Day. For your vote to be counted, return your ballot early and keep track of its status.

2. Vote Early

  • You have the option to vote early at designated early voting locations within your county during early voting days. Reach out to your local Supervisor of Elections for more information.

3. Vote on Election Day

  • On Election Day, you must cast your vote in person at your assigned polling place.

  • Locate your polling place before heading out to vote.
